VIC Summer School in Immersive Technologies and Artificial Intelligence

Programme Overview

The European Summer School in Immersive Technologies is a high-impact, five-day academic programme designed to provide an intensive introduction to key areas of Extended Reality (XR), including immersive programming, 3D modelling, and interface design.  The Summer School brings together students and early-career professionals to engage in cutting-edge workshops, expert-led seminars, and collaborative project work. Held annually, four editions of the Summer School will be hosted in rotation by partner institutions, being the first edition hosted in Lisbon by ISTEC.

Designed as a complement to the consortium’s broader educational offerings, the Summer School fosters cross-sector dialogue and international networking, bridging the gap between academic research and industrial innovation in immersive technologies.

Through a combination of theoretical instruction and practical, hands-on activities, participants explore a multidisciplinary curriculum and develop tangible skills applicable to both industry and further academic study.

Upon completion, participants receive a certificate that may include academic credits eligible for recognition within the consortium’s Master’s Degree Programme.

The Summer School offers a dynamic learning environment that encourages experimentation, peer exchange, and direct engagement with emerging XR tools and practices. All sessions are conducted in English and supported by experienced faculty and guest lecturers from both academia and industry.
